Encaustic Painting
Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using molten beeswax and added color pigments. The liquid wax is then applied to a substrate, such as a wood panel and fused or burned in through the use of a heat source, such as a heat gun or propane torch. Layers are applied, one on top of the other, with each layer being separately fused in. This technique results in a depth and luminous translucency that is unique to encaustic art.
I like to combine the encaustic technique and found objects to create my art that elevates off the canvas.
